Metal Mesh Top & Thermoplastic Coating

Rain does not sit on this table. The welded mesh top lets water fall straight through, debris never collects in the corners, and air moves through the panels and the seats, so the set is dry and usable again soon after a shower. On a hot afternoon that same airflow keeps the surface cooler than a solid steel or timber top, which is often the difference between a seat people use and one they avoid.

The thermoplastic coating is what makes the set feel finished rather than industrial. It goes on as a thick, non-porous skin over the mesh panels, the seats and the table edge, sealing the steel away from moisture, salt air and food. That skin resists rust, fading and chipping, does not hold mould or mildew, and takes the treatment public furniture gets — marker pen, grease, and the cleaning chemicals a maintenance crew actually reaches for.

Cleaning is deliberately simple. A damp cloth or a mild household cleaner handles most marks, and a pressure washer can be used on the mesh when dirt has baked in. Keep acetone-based products off the coating.

Underneath, the frame is powder-coated steel in black, and the whole set is finished in fade-resistant pigment so tables supplied in different orders still sit together as a set. 6. Portable — place the heavy duty picnic table on level paving or firm, compacted ground, check that it does not rock, and reposition it rather than forcing the legs if the surface is uneven.
7. Re-check after the first weeks of use — hardware settles once a set has been sat on, leaned on and cleaned a few times, so go round and re-tighten any loose fixings.
